Colleen Mills Kurson, LMHC
About Me:

For almost 20 years I have provided counseling services to individuals and families. I have been a Clinical Supervisor and Clinic Director in community mental health centers, as well as an Adjunct Faculty member at Boston University's School of Medicine in the Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine Graduate Program. I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing anxiety and distress related to their relationships and life transitions.

I enjoy working with people using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore how one's perspective and beliefs influence their emotional reactions. I work to explore what coping skills have already been employed and collaborate with clients to develop additional healthy coping skills as we work on symptoms management and reaching their goals.

I have received additional training in:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Children with Depression & Anxiety

  • SPACE Therapy (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)

  • Mindfulness

  • Treating Anger in Adolescents

  • Play Therapy
